  • What is face validity?
    The extent to which a test or measurement appears to measure what it is intended to measure.
  • What is predictive validity?
    The extent to which a measure accurately predicts future outcomes or behaviours on a broadly related topic.
  • What is content validity?
    The extent to which the measurement accurately captures the full range of the construct being measured and the true aims.
  • What is concurrent validity?
    The degree to which a new measure or test correlates with an established measure or test that measures the same construct which has known validity.
  • What is construct validity?
    The extent to which a measure or test accurately measures the construct or concept it is intended to assess.
  • What is validity?
    The extent to which a test or experiment measures what it is intended to measure, is it truthful for example is it correct and accurate.
  • What is internal validity?
    Whether the measure used in a test genuinely tests what they are designed to test.
  • What is external validity?
    How confident you are that you can generalise the results of the study so the extent the studies results can be applied to other people or settings.
  • What is population external validity?
    The extent to which the findings can be generalised to other populations of people.
  • What is ecological external validity?
    The extent to which the findings can be generalised beyond the present situation to other settings and situations in everyday life.
  • What is temporal external validity?
    The extent to which the findings can be generalised to other historical times and eras.
