• Jewish view of God is monotheistic - only him
• Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one." Often recited in the Shema and emphasises concept of oneness of God
• The one who sustains everything
• Transcendent: God is beyond human understanding and is beyond the physical world. Exists outside of space and time.
• Immanent: God is present within creation and can be experienced through it. Has an active role in the world.
• Eternal, merciful and forgiving.
• All powerful - Egyptian curses and parting the Red Sea.
• Unique, no other being like God.
• All knowing - knows all that is happening, knows what will happen and what has happenes.
• Belief overall is one of reverence, awe and devotion. Source of all goodness.
