Multi-store memory model

• The multi-store model of memory proposes that memory is stored in different parts of the brain
• MSM is composed of the sensory register, short-term memory and long-term memory. Each store features coding, capacity and duration.
• STM has a limited capacity (7+/-2) and lasts up to 18- 30s
• The duration os Sensory Register is 1/2 a second
• LTMs capacity is unlimited
• Encoding is the process by which we convert information into a suitable format for storage in various memory stores
