mAs and x-ray intensity

  • X-ray intensity is directly proportional to the milli ampere seconds (mAs).
  • When mAs is doubled, the number of projectile electrons striking the tube target is doubled, and therefore the number of x-rays emitted is doubled.
  • mAs is a measure of the total number of projectile electrons that travel from cathode to anode to produce x-rays.
