  • Chapter 6 - Remarkable incident of Dr Lanyon
    • There has been no signs of Hyde, and Jekyll seems more jubilant and alike to his chivalrous Victorian self
    • Jekyll then refuses to see Utterson due to his deep melancholy. Utterson then decides to go to visit Lanyon to speak about Jekyll.
    • When he arrives Dr Lanyon is deathly sick and alludes to how his imminent death and sickness is linked to Jekyll's illness. He refuses to tell Utterson why, but says that Utterson will find out after his death
    • Utterson writes to Jekyll, yet Jekyll is consumed by this mental darkness and is facing unspeakable punishments.
    • Lanyon dies weeks later and writes a letter to Utterson with strict instructions - it is not to be opened until the "death or disappearance" of Jekyll - Utterson honours these wishes
