Warwick

• Edward married Elizabeth Woodville in secret even though Warwick had set up an advantageous marriage in France, she was from a Lancastrian family, a widow and had no political or economic advantages
• Warwick wanted more power than Edward had given him and loved the responsibilities he had been given. so resented when Edward consulted with other nobles
• Warwick resented that Edward made an alliance with Burgundy rather than France
• Warwick found Clarence (Edward's younger brother) as a replacement for Edward and then requested him to marry his daughter even though Edward wouldn't let this
• Warwick wanted to replace Edward with a credible alternative who would grant him more power such as Henry VI or clarence
• in 1469 Warwick intercepts Herbert who is travelling to meet Edward. Causing the battle of Edgecote where Warwick was defeated but Herbert was killed. Warwick then captured Edward but had to be released due to a Lancastrian uprising in the north
• in 1470 Warwick tried to take advantage of rebellion in Lincolnshire
• in 1470 he failed to try and make Clarence king after defeat at Losecoat Field and he fled to France. he makes an alliance with Margaret in July aiming to restore Henry to the throne
• in September 1470 Warwick invaded England with help of French troops forcing Edward to flee to Burgundy and Henry VI return to the throne
