  • Heracles was a hero with great strength. His father was Zeus and mother was Alceme, which made Hera jealous, who then caused Heracles to kill his wife and children. In grief, he went to the priestess for help who sent him on to King Eurystheus to complete 12 tasks
  • The Nemean Lion
    Heracles was sent to capture the beast with tough skin and sharp teeth that everyone feared. Many hunters had tried defeat the beast but none succeeded… Heracles was the only one strong enough and was able to rap and strangle the beast, before using its head and fur as armour. The king was scared of Heracles walking up to the castle as he was scared he was the beast.
  • The Lernaean Hydra
    This was fearsome snake with 9 heads that Hera and the King believed would be impossible to kill and if Heracles entered its den he would die. He managed to lure the snake out of it‘s den and club the heads. Burying the remaining immortal one
  • The Erynanthian Boar
    To capture the boar, Heracles chased and tired out boar, then slung it over his shoulder to return to the castle. The king screamed and ran when he saw the beast and it was allowed return to the forest
  • The Ceryneian Stag
    A beautiful stag with remarkable speed that Heracles could only catch by shooting in the leg and tying to a tree. Artemedis (goddess) agreed to wait there.
  • The Stymphalian Birds
    Birds with pointed beaks, ripping claws and razor sharp teeth that all the people of the land feared. He made a sturdy bronze shield and shot each one with an arrow
  • The Augean Stables
    To clean filthy stables of cattle manure he dug deep trenches leading to river
  • The Cretan Bull
    The bull washed up on Island of Crete and was used by jolly people of the island for bull jumping games. It rebelled and only Heracles was able to take it by horns, toss upside down and take away
  • The Mares of Diomedes
    With the help of friends made along the way, Heracles travelled to Thrace to capture the mares. While doing so he was attacked by Diomedes and his men, but during the battle Diomedes was thrown off his horse causing a distraction. Heracles was able to muzzle the mares and return them to King Eurystheus
  • Hippolytes’s Belt
    Heracles was to take to belt if Hippolyte, queen of The Amazons. Hippolyte gave the belt willingly but as Heracles was taking it the Amazon women attacked thinking he was attacking their queen. In the fight they accidentally killed the queen and Heracles was able to slip out with the belt
  • The Golden Apple of Hesperides
    He went to the hidden land of Hesperides to retrieve the Golden Immortality Apples but had to slay a dragon first. He though about eating one himself but had also heard stories of how the apples take away immortality
  • The Cattle of Geryon
    Heracles had to capture the herd of Geryon who was a part man, part monster. He did so by defeating Geryon and his two headed dog and the herding the cattle aboard his ship
  • The Capture of Cerberus
    Heracles had to capture Cerberus, the three-headed dog who guarded the underworld. Hades agreed to this as long as he did not harm or borrow Cerberus for too long. King Eurystheus was scared of the beast and agreed it should be returned to the underworld. When Heracles came back, Eurystheus and Hera were gone
