    1) To remember those who have fallen in WW1 and uphold the rights of those who fought.2) To oppose imperialism against Italy (and others).3) To prevent those who did not support Italy's intervention in the war, from gaining power in Parliament.
  • Why was Squadristi violence so important to the fascist rise to power?
    It showed how the army and police were willing to tolerate it as they hoped it would stop a socialist revolution. Squadristri broke the power of the socialists and created the myth that the fascists 'saved' Italy from revolution, thus increasing their support.

    Industrialists opposed the socialists strongly and the industrialists feared their rise would result in more taxation and better treatment of workers.

    They were not anti-Semitic, in fact many Jewish people joined the fascists. Many Jewish people were freed from the ghettos by the nationalist government after Italy's unification.
