by 1480 the Scottish attacks over the border had turned into a large scale raid into the north-east of England
in 1481 Edward planned a major campaign to punish the Scots but it was abandoned quickly and replaced by a campaign led by Richard in 1482
aimed to get rid of James III and make his brother (Duke of Albany) king instead. as Albany was on Edwards side so was happy to hand over Scottish territory for the crown
Richard captured Berwick and led his army to Edinburg but the brothers made peace so Richard had to withdraw to the south but kept Berwick
the Scottish campaign preoccupied Edward meaning he couldn't provide help when Burgundy sought English aid to invade France. so burgundy abandoned England and made a treaty with France
