      1. attach a crocodile clip to the wire
      2. attach a second crocodile clip to the wire, 10 cm away from the first clip, and write down the length between the clips
      3. close the switch and record the current through the wire and the pd across it
      4. open the switch and move the clip another 10cm away, close the switch and measure the current and pd again
      5. repeat this multiple times
      6. use the measurements to calculate resistance
      7. plot a graph to show how as the wire gets longer the resistance is greater
