  • 1962 Commonwealth Immigrants Act - increase of South Asian families (Indian, Pakistani etc). more traditional extended families and follow traditional values.
  • 2004 - new countires joined the EU (e.g. latvia, poland, slovenia etc) and led to an increase in eastern european families. many are young people looking for work. many have a higher birth rate than UK women
