Topographic survey
Topographical survey is a
detailed
map that
creates
accurate
representation
of land contours and
elevations,
which are
crucial
for construction and
land development
. It can
capture
both
natural
and
man
made
feature.
Types of topographical survey:
Boundary survey
- helps
identify
legal
property
boundaries.
Hydrographic survey
-
focuses
on the
study
of
bodies
of
water
and
costal
area.
Flood risk management survey
-
assess
the
vulnerability
of a site to
flood.

topographical

Establish legal
boundaries
How to carry out topographical
survey:
Set up the
total station
to a known point using
GPS technology
, ensuring it’s levelled by adjusting its legs making sure the bubble is in the middle.
Establish
control
points,
measure out
horizontal
and
vertical
angles of each point.
Using
EDM
measure
out
distances
of each point from the instrument to the
target.
Transfer collected data into a computer for further analysis.
