The purpose of a
media product
could be to
advertise
,
educate
,
entertain
,
inform
, or
influence.
Advertise
: used to
sell
a
product
or
service
to the
viewers
or
listeners.
Entertain: provide (someone) with amusement or
enjoyment. Primary purpose
of most
films produced.
Educate:
Teach skills
or
knowledge
to a
person
or
group
of
people.
Inform
: To give
information
about something, especially in a
formal
way. Can give
instructions
or

Influence
: change the
behaviour
of others by

Colours
have
different meanings
and
connotations
when used in
different media products
to give other
meanings.
Different products have different
conventions
in how they are
designed.
E.g. All books have a
blurb.
The way
content
is laid out on a page is called the
layout.
It can be used to make a
viewer think
a certain
way.
Some
products
use
formal language
and some use
informal language
, depending on
who
the
product
is
aimed towards.
