  • The purpose of a media product could be to advertise, educate, entertain, inform, or influence.
  • Advertise: used to sell a product or service to the viewers or listeners.
  • Entertain: provide (someone) with amusement or enjoyment. Primary purpose of most films produced.
  • Educate: Teach skills or knowledge to a person or group of people.
  • Inform: To give information about something, especially in a formal way. Can give instructions or information.
  • Influence: change the behaviour of others by persuading them to do something or believe something.
  • Colours have different meanings and connotations when used in different media products to give other meanings.
  • Different products have different conventions in how they are designed. E.g. All books have a blurb.
  • The way content is laid out on a page is called the layout. It can be used to make a viewer think a certain way.
  • Some products use formal language and some use informal language, depending on who the product is aimed towards.
