    Constables introduced, the coroner (new role) investigated suspicious deaths, Justice of the Peace introduced, prisons were set up as holding blocks for suspects before their trial (Assize of Clarendon), Justices in the Eyre introduced, trial by ordeal largely stopped- only the cold water one remained
