    Not always consistent with attitude
    We are more likely to act in a way that reveals our attitudes

    Persuading an individual to change or altering their beliefs, attitudes, behaviour towards something

    Needs to be a significant person , role model or leader

    Needs to make sense and believable also accurate and clear

    When a person holds two ideas that conflict with each other
    Wants to perform at a high level but wont train
  • How do you help cognitive dissonance ?
    Cognitive - provide new info to dispel old thoughts
    Affective - give a different experience = positive outcome
    Behavioural - simplify skill to increase chance of success

    A belief held by a collection of people about trains shared by a certain group of people

  • What is prejudice?
    Attitude that is based of inaccurate information or is unfair
    Prejudgement = evaluates situation before receiving adequate information

    Believe in value of exercise
    Enjoy activity
    Good at activity
    Experience excitement from challenge
    Experience relaxation / escape from stress
  • What are negative attitudes in sport ?
    Dislike experience involved
    Frightened to fail
    Experience stress / anxiety
