Battle of Gate Fulford

• 19th September 1066
• Hardrada and Tostig attacked the North of England - 200 warships and 10000 soldiers
• Morcar and Edwin = defeated
• Tostig and Hardrada killed 3000 Anglo-Saxon soldiers
• English had the marsh behind them - tried to escape but got stuck and killed
• there were so many dead English soldiers, the Vikings could walk on the marsh without getting their feet wet
