  • When war began in 1939 the government made plans to evacuate children from cities likely to be bombed. This was called Kindertransport
  • Kindertransport was the movement of thousands of children organised by leaders of German-Jewish community
  • Between December 1938- September 1939, 8,274 children travelled to Britain without their parents and when war was declared, borders closed and Kindertransport stopped
