  • Development is hard to measure as there are many different components and living factors.
  • Some countries have barriers when it comes to development and progression. These barriers factor in:
    Economic terms e.g. types of trade
    Social terms e.g. impact of little education
    Environmental terms e.g. changing climate
  • The Human Development Index (HDI) measures the average achievements in three basic dimensions of human development: a long and healthy life, access to knowledge and a decent standard of living.
  • IGO stands for Inter-Governmental Organisations which are large and expensive scheme which involve oversea loans with banks and agencies from all different countries working together.
  • NGO stands for Non-Governmental organisations which involve charities and universities.
  • The Corruption Perception Index uses a scale from 100 (honest) to 0 (highly corrupt). In corrupt countries invested money is likely used to bribe officials, or purchase weapons. ​
