Cell cycle

Cards (6)

  • Cell division occurs through mitosis or meiosis.
  • The cell cycle is the process by which cells grow, divide, and reproduce.
  • Mitosis results in two genetically identical daughter cells with the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell.
  • G1 Phase - The first gap phase during interphase when the cell grows and prepares to enter S phase.
  • Meiosis produces four haploid gametes (eggs or sperm) that contain half the number of chromosomes found in somatic cells.
  • Interphase is the longest stage of the cell cycle, during which DNA replication takes place.
