Vector and Scalar graphs

Cards (7)

  • A scalar quantity has magnitude (size) only.
  • A vector has magnitude and direction.
  •  Vectors are always represented by arrows. The point of the arrow shows the direction and the length shows the magnitude of the vector.
  • Displacement has a magnitude and a direction so it’s a vector.
Distance only has magnitude so it’s a scalar.
  • Scalar - Temperature, flow, pressure, time, speed, mass, density
  • Vector - speed, force, displacement, acceleration, velocity, distance, weight
  • Distance is the journey an object took, displacement is the distance between point A to point B
