    • Receptacle (Torus) - holds the flower part

    Perianth - sepals +petals
    • Sepals (Calyx) - protects the flowers when ni bud
    • Petals (Corolla) - attracts pollinating insects
    Stamen - male part
    • Anther- lobes containing pollen sacs
    • Filament - stalk that hold the anther
    Carpel - female part
    • Stigma - receives the pollen
    • Style - supports the stigma
    • Ovary - contains ovules that tore the female gametes

    Complete vs Incomplete
    • Complete - possess all 3 appendages
    • Incomplete - lacks one or more appendages
    Perfects vs Imperfect
    • Perfect - posses both stamen and carpel
    • Imperfect - possess either a stamen or a carpel but not both

    Hypanthium/Floral Cup
    • holds the ovary (lower portions of the sepals, petals, and stamens)
  • Classification of Flower Based on Position of Ovary
    Hypogenous - superior ovary
    Perigenous - hypanthium surrounds the ovary
    Epigenous - inferior ovary
