The respiratory system is responsible for taking oxygen from the
air
and getting it into the
cells.
The structures that make up the lungs are the
trachea
,
bronchioles
,
alveoli
,
bronchus
and
diaphragm.
The
alveoli
are where gas exhange takes place.
The
oxygen
we breath in from the air enters into the blood at the lungs, and
carbon dioxide
leaves the blood at the lungs and we breathe it out.
Exercise changes
breathing
rate because your muscles work
harder
, you use more
oxygen
and produce more
carbon dioxide.
