• servere terms of treaty for germany:

  • article 231: germany had to take blame for war, the war-guilt clause; many germans didn't agree with this and were humiliated
  • germany armed forces reduced to 100,000 men, were not allowed any armoured vehicles, aircrafts and submarines, only 6 warships - made germans feel vulnerable
  • germany forced to pay £6.6 million reparations (damage caused by german forces in the war- seemed unfair to germany and would cause lasting damage to germany's economy.
• severe terms of treaty for germany:

  • germany lost its empire, areas around the world that belonged to germany were now called mandates- put under control of countries on the winning side called the league of nations, an organisation which aimed to settle international disputes peacefully, germany not allowed to join- people felt opposed the losses of territory especially when the people in german colonies were being forced to join new nation.
• weimar politicians involved in signing armistice became known as 'november criminals'
