Politically

• Racial tensions led to a rise in support for far-right political parties which resulted in organised opposition against migrants. The 1967 Race Relations Act made it illegal to discriminate on ground of race
• In 1993 on 22 April, Stephen Lawrence, a black teenager aged 18, was stabbed to death while waiting for a bus. Stephens mum Doreen claimed the Met Police didn't carry out a professional investigation into his murder as all 5 suspects were not charged.

  Her voice led to a rule against double jeopardy (being tried for same crime twice) was dropped, 2 of Stephens murderers were convicted, and a charity as well as bursary for young architects were both established by his mum in his name
• Pressure groups have also been formed to encourage a stand against inequality such as Show Racism the Red Card and BLM movement
