2ND QUARTER

Cards (5)

  • Principal Quantum Number - describes the size and distance of electrons from the nucleus. It also indicates the energy of the electrons
  • Azimuthal Quantum Number - describes the shape of the orbitals and has values from zero to n-1
  • Magnetic Quantum Number - describes the orientation on space of the orbitals and has values from -1 to +1, including zero
  • Spin Quantum Number - describes the direction of spin of the electrons
  • Pauli’s exclusion principle - no two electrons in an atom will have the same set of all four quantum numbers
