  • Simplex Communication - one-way communication or unidirectional. One device can transmit, and the other device will receive.
  • Examples of Simplex:
    • keyboards
    • traditional monitors
  • Half-Duplex Communication - two-way communication or bidirectional (not at the same time). If one device is sending, the other can only receive, and vice versa.
  • Examples of Half-Duplex:
    • Walkie-talkies
  • Full Duplex Communication - also two-way communication or bidirectional, but simultaneously. Device can send and receive at the same time.
  • Examples of Full Duplex:
    • telephone line
