Calcium Channel Blocker

Cards (1)

  • Calcium Channel Blockers:
    • examples include: amlodipine, felodipine, nifedipine, diltiazem, verapamil etc
    • These drugs act directly on the calcium channels on the sarcolemma of the ventricular cardiomyocytes to partially block these channels and decrease calcium influx on depolarisation
    • Decreasing calcium influx either by using beta blockers or calcium channel blockers has exactly the same effect on force generation and stroke volume
