  • research has shown lower levels of activity in the ventral striatum, thought to be associated with avolition (loss of motivation) in schizophrenics compared to a control group
  • Juckel found a negative correlation between activity in the ventral striatum and a persons activity in life
• Positive Symptoms:

  • Allen 2007 conducted brain scans on those with auditory hallucinations and lower activation levels in superior temporal gyrus and anterior cingulate gyrus was found in comparison with a control group
