    To be able to measure levels of obedience and how it interacts with authoritative figures

    • Gathered via advertisement in the New Haven Newspaper
    • 40 males aged 20-50 selected out of those responded
    • Each were payed $4.50 for participation which didn‘t depend upon staying in the study
    • Told research was about memory and learning
    • Sample had a range of jobs and varied in educational level
