    1. Macbeth kills Duncan.
    2. LM waits for M to return.
    3. M returns, horrified by what he has done, and he has the daggers he used on D.
    4. LM returns to D to put the daggers back and to smear the kings sleeping servants with blood.

    Duncans death made her feel powerful and she enjoyed making the others feel weak.

    LM is capable of caring and can show weakness. This weakness will eventually be the cause of LMs downfall.
  • What does it mean when M says, 'I had most need of blessing, and 'Amen' stuck in my throat'?
    M instantly felt guilt/remorse for what he did and now he doesn't want to go to hell. Since he has sinned, God has turned from him.
  • What does it mean when M says, 'Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep'?
    M will never feel peace again, him killing Duncan had destroyed his own rest and tranquillity.
  • What does it mean when LM says, 'Infirm of purpose'?
    LM is degrading M and telling him that he'll never be good enough for her.
