• How to measure along a transect?

  • The tape should be placed at a right angle to the area being measured
  • Place 1m2 quadrant every 1 meter along the transect
  • Count the number of species in each quadrant
  • Repeat at 2 or more locations
• Reaction time

  • Person 1 sits on a chair with their forearm resting on a table, hand hanging over the edge.
  • A second person holds the ruler vertically between the participant’s thumb and forefinger, with the zero mark level with their fingers.
  • Without warning, the ruler is dropped, and the participant catches it as quickly as possible.
  • The distance the ruler falls before being caught is recorded in cm.
  • Repeat three times and calculate the mean reaction time.
