Define wounding:
A wound is a break in the continuity of the skin, breaks three layers of skin (
Eisenhower
).
A broken bone is not a wound unless it also breaks the skin (
R v Wood
).
Define GBH:
Really
serious
harm, but does not have to be life threatening (
DPP v Smith
).
Define s20 OAPA 1861 - Maliciously wounding or inflicting GBH:
Where D wounded or inflicted GBH
and
he
either
intended
some
injury
or
was
reckless
as
to
whether
injury was caused.
s20 AR:
D must have wounded or inflicted

"Inflicted" means the same as causes - Causation rules apply
