SSRI's

• SSRI = selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors
• SSRI’s alter the levels of serotonin in the brain by increasing them, thereby alleviating/ improving the symptoms of OCD (which may be connected to low levels of serotonin)
• GO THROUGH THE PROCESS OF NEUROTRANSMITTERS
• the ocd brain has less serotonin as the serotonin doesn't make it to the post synaptic as it is reuptake to the presynaptic neuron
• ssri's inhibit serotonin reuptake rorcing the seretonin to go to the post synpatic neuron
