Static electricity

Cards (10)

  • What is static electricity?
charged particles do not move but they still exert a force on each other
  • What do conductors do?
Allow charge to flow through them
  • What do insulators do?
charge can't flow through them so a build up of charge can occur on the surface and remains static
  • What is an electric field?
the region that a positive or negative particle will feel a force around it
  • Where is an electric field strongest?
where lines are closer together, nearest the object
  • Where is an electric field the weakest?
where the lenses are further apart, further from the charge
  • What is electric current?
    Flow of electric charge.
  • What is a series circuit?
there is only one path for the current, so the current is the same through the circuit
  • What is a parallel circuit?
has junctions with more than one route for current
  • What is resistance?
anything that reduces the flow of charge. measured in ohms
