  • up until 1982 the Afro-Carribean press in Britain had always addressed a generation of immigrants, which meant that they target their communities with news from their own countries of origin such as news about what was going on in the Caribbean and Africa rather than news relevant to those living in Britain. These papers targeted first-generation immigrants. Newspapers such as The Caribbean Times and West Africa, kept the immigrants (also called diaspora) up to date about the news of the old countries.
