• When they are at the Tabversity, participants were met by an Experimenter wearing a gay lab coat, and were told that they were Taking part in a study on learning and memory, and whether punish affects learning
• They were told they were working in pairs with "Mr. Wallace", who wa another participant-however, he was actually a confederate

  There were two roles of Learner' and Teacher in the experiment though they doow lots, it was fixed so that the learner was always Mr. Wallace
