Donation Land Act 1850

  They wanted to populate the west.
• Where was the act applicable to?

  It was applicable to Oregon.
• How much land was given to any man?

  160 acres of land were given to people for a small fee, however this did not include black people.
• How much land was given if you were married?

  320 acres were given if you were married and were to be split equally between the couple.
• Why was the 320 acres if you were married monumental?

  It was the first time women could own land in America.
