  • What is the pharmacology of ampicillin?
    Target: Penicillin-binding proteins
    Action: Antagonist
  • MOA- Ampicillin
    Binds to PBPs -> stops cross-linking of D-alanine & D-alanine -> no cell wall synthesis
    Without PBPs, bacteria upregulate autolytic enzymes -> unable to build & repair cell wall
    = bacteriocidal action
