Dopamine

Cards (5)

  • What is dopamine?
    Catecholamine neurotransmitter
  • What is the pharmacology of dopamine?
    Target: Dopamine receptors
    Action: Agonist
  • What are the indications of dopamine?
    Cardiogenic shock (infarction/cardiac surgery)
  • What are the side effects of dopamine?
    Anxiety
    Hypertension
    Nausea
  • MOA- Dopamine
Dopamine is precursor to noradrenaline in noradrenergic nerves
Dopamine binds to B adrenergic receptors (agonist) -> +ve chronotropic & inotropic effects on myocardium -> increase HR & cardiac contractility & indirectly causes a release of noradrenaline in sympathetic nerve endings
