(T) Location and Background

• Tuvalu is a group of nine small islands in the South Pacific.
• The population of Tuvalu is around 11,000 people and the economy is mainly based on exporting coconuts, fishing of tuna and sales of postage stamps.
• Most of the islands in Tuvalu are low-lying with the highest point being only 4.5m above sea level.
