• Cytoplasm - where most of the chemical reactions take place.

• mitochondria - produces energy from food
• ribosomes - make proteins
• vacuole - contains cell sap, helps maintain cell shape and supports cell structure
• chloroplasts - contain chlorophyll which is used to capture sunlight during photosynthesis
• Diffusion - is the movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of

  low concentration
• Osmosis - movement of water molecules from an area of higher water potential to an area of lower water potential through a partially permeable membrane.
• Active transport - requires energy (ATP) and moves substances against their concentration gradient
