    > Marriage: In 1566 Parliament threatened to refuse approving taxes until Elizabeth made plans to marry. In response, Elizabeth angrily told MPs they should not discuss her personal affairs, she then closed
    Parliament.

    > In 1571, Walter Strickland (a Puritan), introduced a bill to replace the new prayer book and make other changes to the Church. In response, Elizabeth accused her MPs of interfering with her private matters of the
    state and closed parliament.
  • Individuals:
    > Mary QoS: Following the Babington Plot in 1586, Parliament demanded Mary’s execution again. In response, while Elizabeth initially refused, she eventually gave in and Mary was executed.
  • Economic Resources:
    > Monopolies: In 1601, MPs complained about monopolies again and would not grant taxes until they had been withdrawn. In response, Elizabeth agreed to cancel some monopolies and said she would look into the rest. She also made a long speech flattering Parliament, which became known as her ‘Golden Speech’ which again showed her to be a clever and shrewd ruler.
