  • A perfect cadence is from chords V-I and sounds complete and final
  • An imperfect cadence is I(or any chord)-V and it sounds incomplete like there is more to be heard
  • A plagal cadence is from IV-I and also comes ‘home’ to chord I but not as final sounding as a perfect cadence
  • An interrupted cadence is from chords V-VI and sounds like a surprise. You will feel annoyed if a piece ends on one
