    • SS in charge of policing in Nazi Germany. Enforced racial policy and the SD monitored public opinion.
    • Night of the Long Knives - showed Hitler was Ruthless and was willing to kill his enemies.
    • Gestapo - secret police that gathered intelligence on people living in Nazi Germany. Had the reputation for being all-knowing people were afraid to speak out in case the Gestapo were listening.
    • Concentration camps - used to remove any opposition to the Nazis. Created fear.
    • Opposing the Nazis - led to severe punishments. Judges swore loyalty to Hitler, ensuring unfair trials. People's courts charged "enemies" with treason, often sending them to concentration camps.
