Quadratics

• The Quadratic Equation:

  $ax^2 +$$bx +$$c=$$0$
• The y-intercept is the c value in the quadratic equation
• Define the Discriminant:

  the part of the quadratic formula underneath the square root
• The Discriminant formula:

  $b^2 - 4ac$
• In completing the square, take out (factorise) the value of a from the terms with x
• In completing the square, always multiply the negative square by the factorised value of a
• For Finding maximum value of a quadratic:

  1. 1/complete the square
  2. sub x to make the bracket equal to 0
  3. maximum value is 1/value that is outside the bracket
