The Quran

• Each surah begins with "In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate"
• Muslims believe that the Quran was written down in full and compiled in the time of Muhammad ﷺ - this is known as Al-Kitab (the compiled book)
• Why does the Quran have supreme authority for Muslims?

  • The Quran is the direct word of Allah and therefore has His authority
  • It is infallible (without error) and remains in its original form
  • The Quran was revealed to the "Seal of the Prophets" and it made Muhammad ﷺ even more important
  • Muhammad ﷺ was illiterate, therefore making the Quran the first great miracle
