  • What is social learning theory (slt)?
    • a theory stating that behaviour is learned through observing and imitating role models, especially when behaviour is reinforced
  • What are the two key processes in SLT?
    1. observing a role model - someone the individual admires
    2. Vicarious reinforcement - learning from the rewards of consequences a role model experiences
  • How does SLT explain addictive behaviours?
    • if an individual sees a peer engaging in an addictive behaviour (e.g. smoking) and perceives them being rewarded (e.g. Higher social status), they are more likely to imitate the behaviour
