• Cocaine is derived from the coca plant it can be snorted or injected into veins, it causes euphoria but also increases heart rate and blood pressure which can lead to death.
• Tobacco contains nicotine, it is absorbed through lungs and skin, it stimulates the release of adrenaline causing increased heart rate and blood pressure, it damages cells lining airways and reduces immune system function.

• Recreational drugs are used for pleasure enjoyment and relaxation
• Medicinal drugs are used for treating disease and preventing them
• The effects of recreational drugs depend on how much drug is taken, where its taken and what other substances are present
