Sperry (1968) used eleven people who had already undergone the surgery where their corpus collosum was severed to control their epilepsy.
Sperry found that when an object was placed in the participants right visual field, they could describe what was seen but if the object was placed in the left visual field, they could see nothing there. This supports the idea of hemispheric lateralisation the brain and localisation of areas to specific functions. Eg. the left hand side of the brain is responsible for language and speech production. An emotional reaction was found if the image was shown in the left visual field. they could select a matching object from a grab bag using their left hand (controlled by right hemisphere).
