  • 1832 : Great Reform Act
    A person had to own property / party certain taxes to qualify . The Act gave the vote to middle class men leaving working class men disappointed
  • 1867: The Second Reform Act
    Urban male working class was enfranchised in England and Wales
  • 1884: The Third Reform Act
    Allowed people in countries to vote on the same basis as those in towns. Home ownership was the only qualification
  • 1918: Representation of People Act
    Abolished all property qualifications for men. Enfranchised women are 30 who met the minimum property qualifications
  • 1928: Representation of People Act
    Equal Franchise Act , Granted equal voting rights to women and men. Both could vote at the age of 21
  • 1969: Representation of People Act
    Reduced voting age from 21 to 18 . Brough electoral changes -> ballot papers
